Chosen
Chosen, written by Howard Barber, is a fictitious story about the leaders of the Special Agent Senior Citizen (SASC) group and their preparations to identify and train the next spiritual leader of the world. The leaders of the SASC also have a goal of promoting peace in the world. This was one of those books that I couldn’t put down. The story kept me interested because the plot moved quickly. Chosen is also a quick read. If you are looking for a good story to read on a day off, this is it. Book discussion groups who like fictitious stories where religious themes are included would find this publication entertaining to discuss. In regards to the religious themes and symbolism, what came to my mind were references to Roman Catholicism, Buddhism, and Hinduism. An underlying point I took from this book is that everyone is needed to make a difference in the world, regardless of age. My only reason for not giving Chosen five stars is that while it is labeled as being a religious book, at times I felt as if I was reading a science fiction book.
