Vikings: Godhead
If you haven’t watched the TV show Vikings, you’ve probably heard of it in some shape or form. While it is on the History Channel, it is essentially a tale of historical fiction, and if you’ve got your Vikings fix from the show and are wanting more, there’s now Vikings the graphic novel.
Written by Cavan Scott (a bestselling author known for novel adaptations) and illustrated by Staz Johnson (Transformers, Robin, Catwoman), this first installment, Vikings: Godhead, features a number of familiar characters from the TV series, including Ragnar, Lagertha, and others, brought to a new kind of life in this artistic medium. The art style gives the characters a grittier, harder style over the show. The volume covers an ordinary tale of Viking dominance, with Ragnar off attacking on a distant shore, searching for riches, while back home there are problems that need taking care of.
While I’m not a big fan of the show, Vikings: Godhead was a decent tale that was interesting and entertaining, and, for those who like the show, this is definitely a way to get more of that Vikings crunchy goodness.
