Secrets of Lily Graves
In the small town of Potsdam, Erin, a local teenager has been found dead. The town reels from the shock, trying to make sense of the tragedy. Lily Graves lives with her mother and a family of eccentric women who run the town mortuary. She’s a bit of a gothic outcast and we know from the get-go that she and Erin were far from friends. Lily was tutoring Erin’s boyfriend, Michael, and she suspected them of getting a little too close…right before she ends up dead. So Lily must do everything she can to find the killer, and keep the fingers of suspicion from pointing at her and Michael.
The Secret of Lily Graves is a morbid but colorful murder mystery. Told from the point of view of a teen that feels right at home with corpses, we get her skewed, slightly cold attitude toward death. I did find the humor to be a bit off-putting at times, and while it might not bother some, it took away from my enjoyment of the book. Still there are a few good surprises to keep the reader guessing and a great shocking twist ending that will leave your head spinning!
