Dream Magic
Those with a serious aversion to spiders…beware. Glittering and magical as these may be, the creepy-crawlies grace every page! While not as fast-paced as it’s predecessor, Dream Magic is a wonderfully enchanting follow up to Joshua Khan’s Shadow Magic. Lilith Shadow is now the queen of Gehenna, but she struggles every day to prove herself and must hide her sorcery for fear of superstitious backlash from her people. The land is being overrun by the waking dead and a threatening war with the Trolls, but something unexpected and far more sinister proves to be her greatest challenge yet.
The fun trio from the first book is down to a duo, and while Kleefe’s bumbling wit is missed, Thorn and Lily’s friendship finds new strength through this dangerous adventure. They definitely prove to have each other’s backs. While the beginning somewhat lacked cohesion, the plot comes together a little way in and holds the reader captive until its climactic end. There is violent and horrific imagery, including bodies being sliced open and spiders crawling out, so recommend to younger middle-grade readers with caution. This continues to be an enchanting fantasy world with hopefully a few more installments to come!
