The Golden Enclaves

Centered on El, fated to be a dark wizard and destroyer of safe-havens, and Orion, a hero who gains magic from destroying monsters, The Golden Enclaves is the third book in the Scholomance series. It is not a good plan to start with this book, as you should read the other two books in the series first. All three books are in the horror genre, and if you are not interested in reading books centered on horrifying monsters, don’t read them any of them.

The Golden Enclaves is far more frightening than the other two. Nauseating and graphic, rather than simply scary. I am a Naomi Novik fan through and through, and I loved the other two books in the series, but this book is so terrifying and graphic that I can’t ever reread it or pass it on to someone else. Do not read this book before bedtime!

I do recommend that libraries carry a copy of this book. The previous book in the series, The Last Graduate, ends on a cliffhanger and people will want to know how it turns out. I do not recommend that individuals purchase this book or for school libraries. This book is best for teenagers thirteen and up who enjoy horror. Despite the nauseating qualities of this book, The Golden Enclaves is well written and very immersive.
