The Berenstain Bears Mother’s Day Blessings
Mother’s Day is coming to Bear Country and the cubs want to do something extra-special for Mama. But what? With Papa’s help, they organize a brunch for Mama and Gran; it’s sure to be a wonderful day for everyone!
Families have adored the Berenstain Bears for generations, and the originals are beloved classics for many. Mike Berenstain has taken over the series, but like some of the other recent additions to the collection, Mother’s Day Blessings is a disappointment. Older Berenstain Bears books stuck to life issues, but this is another one that is distinctly religious; some readers may love this new direction, but others are sure to be distinctly uncomfortable with the overt Christian references in the family-friendly series. In addition, the illustrations simply can’t compare properly with the drawings in the original Berenstain Bears books. Some fans, especially those who have enjoyed other recent offerings in the series, will love Mother’s Day Blessings, but those who grew up on the classic Berenstain Bears books might not really want to add this one to their library.
