Gurty the Goose Leads the Flock
Gurty is among the friendliest of geese. He’s playful and quirky and wears the same red, striped socks day in and day out; they’re his “lucky socks,” after all. When winter nears, and his family migrates south, he courageously offers to lead the flock that remains. With trepidation, he practices, testing his strength and agility. He’s feeble and clumsy but perseveres nonetheless. Before long, he’s soaring through the sky sock-less and delighted with his own fortitude. Soon, he leads in perfect formation, landing his flock in a beautiful tropical paradise.
This charming picture book is ideal for children ages three to seven. The rhyming and engaging text will capture their interests, and the delightful illustrations will draw them in for a delectable story time. The characters are precious and thoughtful; Gurty himself is quite amusing. His humorous, light-hearted personality will leave children giggling out loud. Additionally, Gurty’s bravery and determination to persist, despite a few tumultuous setbacks, will provide youth with a strong example to follow. He emulates selflessness in leading and delineates the importance of togetherness.
