As the Wicked Watch: The First Jordan Manning Novel (Jordan Manning series, 1)
As a crime reporter with a degree in forensic science, Jordan Manning knows her way around a crime scene. After years of covering gruesome crimes, Jordan struggles with distancing herself from the brutality. Straddling that line between empathy and self-preservation becomes nearly impossible when covering the disappearance of a young black girl turns into covering a murder investigation. She has to fight to get coverage for this story because her gut tells her there is more to it and the suspects may not be guilty.
As a fan of Tamron Hall, I was very excited to have the opportunity to review this book. This story opens with a detailed account of the day in the life of a reporter. The descriptions were vivid and interesting. It immediately pulled me and was entertaining to the last page. The characters were well developed and multifaceted. I loved Jordan. She’s strong, smart, and delightfully flawed. The writing had an air of authenticity without being dry and boring. Very well written and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys crime fiction, I can’t wait for the next one in the series.
