The Best of Bova: Volume 1
Ben Bova is one of the grand masters of modern science fiction; especially over the last 30 or so years. He is known for his hard science fiction, often exploring other worlds in the Solar System for us long before NASA sends any probes. The amount of fiction that he has written is voluminous. And extends across many decades, for us younger readers it is difficult to read some of the earlier stuff, especially the short stories, until now. BAEN, a science fiction publisher, is coming out in three volumes the best of Ben Bova.
While we do not know what will be covered in the next two volumes, I can tell you that this volume is a treasure. It covers the short fiction that Ben Bova wrote over the years, with a short introduction before each story by Mr. Bova explaining the story a little bit. We get to see more recent writings, along with stuff published many years ago at the beginning of his career. And that is what makes it so great for younger readers like myself; we get to see the earlier writings that we would not normally see. I can’t wait to see what they do in volumes 2 and 3.
