Sweet Reckoning
Sweet Reckoning is the conclusion to the Sweet series by Wendy Higgins. This is one of those series that got better with each book, both in the development of the characters, and the overall story and writing. In Sweet Reckoning Anna, Kai and their Nephilim friends face the Dukes in the ultimate showdown in order to finally rid the world of their evil influences.
What I enjoyed most, not only in Sweet Reckoning but the series as a whole, was Anna’s character development. She went from a shy and naive girl to someone who is strong and takes charge. I really loved that Anna was the one who often told Kai that they needed to keep moving forward and not give up. In the end, this trilogy is about love, hope and the journey along the way, on a road that at times is filled with anything but hope.
This was probably my favorite book in the series because I loved how things progressed between Kai and Anna. I liked how their relationship developed over the series and how it ended up in this book. Aside from Anna and Kai, Ms. Higgins did an outstanding job of bringing the supporting characters to life, and although things didn’t always end well for every character, there is still a satisfying end. As the last book in this trilogy, it did a phenomenal job of really tying everything up.
