Pathfinder Tales: Hellknight
Jheraal, a Hellknight of the Order of the Scourge, has a good reputation for untangling mysteries, but she might be in over her head with this newest investigation. A simple murder investigation quickly turns into a hunt for a serial killer who is specifically targeting hellspawn, which leaves Jheraal fearing for the life of her own daughter. The Hellknight teams up with a paladin and a diabolist to find the killer and trace this particular evil to its roots.
Once again, Paizo’s Pathfinder Tales series delivers a great read, this time with the dark, twisted novel Hellknight. This story grabs you right from the beginning, with a cast of imperfect characters that readers can’t help caring about (or, in the case of the murderer, being bizarrely fascinated by). Liane Merciel is an amazing writer, and she provides just the right amount of detail to keep the story engaging without getting bogged down by the potentially gruesome elements. Readers don’t need to be at all familiar with the world of the Pathfinder RPG in order to enjoy this book; this is simply a fantastic, fascinating fantasy novel.
