You Have to F*****g Eat
The sequel to the best-selling classic Go the F**k to Sleep, Adam Mansbach’s second book, You Have to F**king Eat, spoofs on the sing-songy prose of children’s literature as he tackles another great parental dilemma: the frustrations and agonies over ensuring their child’s nutrition. Or even something resembling a normal, balanced meal.
If you’re a frustrated parent with a picky child, or even just one who appreciates “deranged” humor, especially humor that rhymes, this is a terrific read for you.
Including all the usual suspects from perhaps overly familiar children’s books, such as lambs and bunnies, golden sunrises, and lovely outdoor scenes, the narrative guides the reader through the maybe all too familiar day of a parent with a kid who doesn’t like to eat. Called “profane, loving, and deeply cathartic,” You Have to F**king Eat delivers on all three. While this might not be a bedtime story to read to the kiddos, parents will enjoy a good chuckle and subtle reminder that everything is better, including parenthood, if tackled with a little bit of humor.
