Who to Believe
A murder rocks the idyllic coastal town of Monreith, Massachusetts, putting everyone on edge. A popular restaurateur is found murdered in her own home and her husband is the prime suspect. When a group of six friends gather for a birthday celebration, rumors, suspicions, and secrets mar the normally festive occasion. As each character tells the story from their point of view, everyone has a theory and everyone has secrets, but who do you believe?
This story reads like a closed-room mystery, except instead of a closed room, it’s a small town, and everyone is a suspect. Normally I find stories with multiple points of view choppy and hard to follow, but this author did a fantastic job and it really added to the suspense. The characters are well developed and the atmospheric imagery is spot on. It’s a slow burn at first, but then I couldn’t put it down. I would call this a good old fashioned mystery with a modern twist. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would recommend to anyone who loves mysteries.
