What If… ? (Habits of the House)
Joe has been invited to his first big birthday party, but he lost the invitation with Tom’s address. Mom says not to worry. They know what street it is on and will be able to find it. But Joe is worried. He’s worried about a lot of things, like meeting new people, if anyone will like him, and what will happen if they play scary games. Mom and Joe find the house and Joe goes reluctantly into the party. Then it is Mom’s turn to worry. Worrying seems to run in this family.
Anthony Browne, author and illustrator, has written a fun story that a lot of little ones will relate to. This is a subject that touches so many children – worrying if they will fit in. But Browne does a masterful job of making this a really amusing look at this problem. As Mom and Joe walk down the street trying to find where the party is being held, Joe looks into open windows. Those windows hold lots of entertaining surprises that will have little ones (and the adults reading the book) laughing throughout. This is a perfect book for little worrywarts.
