There’s nothing new here, but that doesn’t make it uninteresting. You can’t help but feel for the characters as they struggle with who could’ve done this while knowing at the same time that people are capable of anything and we all have secrets, some worse than others. Lapena does a great job of showing how thin the line is between wanting the truth and wanting to protect those we love, no matter the cost. If you enjoy small-town murder mysteries, you should read this book.
