Tumor
A private detective who works with the underworld of Los Angeles is dying and given one last assignment: Find the missing daughter of the local drug kingpin. Now it is a race against time—and death—as Frank Armstrong races against the clock and his own illness to find her in the seamy underworld. Frank must deal with visions of the past when his actions led to the death of his wife, and a possibility towards the future. All the while dodging corrupt cops, drug gangs, and a tumor that will eventually kill him. Can Frank find redemption before it is too late?
A fairly simple story that is a spread across a lot of pages. A good portion is devoted to flashbacks—back to when Frank’s wife was killed and to Frank in the hospital getting his diagnosis. The artwork goes for that noir look, but it feels incomplete somehow. Some of the action scenes are difficult to follow. But it is a powerful story at the end, a story that even in your deepest despair you can find redemption.
