Ahhhhh…. I can’t believe this is the last installment to the Crossing the Line series. It truly is a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye to the cast of undercover misfits that Tessa Bailey has created. In her final installment, Tessa Bailey sends her readers on one final journey where a disgraced cop falls hard for a criminal’s daughter and together they find redemption, love, and a second chance at life.
“This girl. She was either going to be his reason for living or the reason he died. It was all right there, shining in front of him like a spotlight.”
In Raw Redemption, Tessa Bailey introduces readers to Henrik Vance, a disgraced cop who ruined his career when he got rid of evidence that would put Ailish O’Kelly behind bars. In order to protect Ailish and redeem himself, Henrik must join a secret undercover unit where a bunch of misfits and criminals are put together to take down other criminals. In the case regarding Ailish O’Kelly, Henrik makes it his mission to protect the girl from her criminal father even if it means breaking the law and committing murder.
Who is Ailish O’Kelly? Ailish is not only the daughter and prisoner of a ruthless criminal – her father. Forced to do his dirty dealings, Ailish has had enough of the life that kept her captive. When Ailish ran away from her father, a bounty was on her head for her return. It didn’t take long until her father’s lackeys discovered where she was hiding – forcing her to run and hide again. This time, Ailish didn’t count on Henrik showing up on her doorstep.
“This girl really did love acting on the temptation, and maybe that should have irritated him. Or made him worry for the future of his sanity. Right now, it only turned him the fuck on. She was his naughty girl to endure. Bring it on.”
When Henrik shows up, Ailish is taken aback by his presence. She doesn’t know what to make of Henrik and his domineering, yet gentle personality. She is well aware that they are both attracted to each other and it’s only a matter of time until their raw sexual tension can no longer be contained.
Henrik knows without a doubt that Ailish is unlike any other woman that he has met. Her beauty, strong personality, and intelligence was driving him mad with lust and it continued to get stronger each time they spent with one another. But with danger threatening the safety of Ailish, Henrik will do what is needed in order to protect the woman that has gotten under his skin and heart.
“This is trust. The weight of the metal cuffs had only been transferred to her heart. She never wanted to be separated from the man holding her so tightly. And she knew —without a single doubt— letting her go would hurt him just as much as leaving would pain her. But he’d do it.”
Ailish wants a fresh start. A new start in life where she doesn’t have to be defined by what she did under her father’s criminal reign. How far will Ailish go to redeem herself? Will it mean sacrificing herself to protect Henrik?
“I want to go harder. I need to. Need to make that pussy sore, then soothe it with some hot come. Need to make you a slave to this dick. You want that, Lish?”
Raw Redemption is a great conclusion to this series. Yes, it is a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye to the beloved cast of misfits, but they each were an important element in making the Crossing the Lines series one of my favorites by Tessa Bailey. In this last farewell to the crew, Tessa Bailey reminded us once again that even criminals and disgraced cops can redeem themselves if they choose to. For Henrik and Ailish, they were not only able to get their second chance at life, but they were also able to heat up the pages. As much as I loved this book, I did not rate it a full five start. Though Tessa Bailey built up the sexual tension between the hero and heroine, I felt it needed more – especially towards the shocking end. The ending felt a little rushed for my taste and I wished the author included more details regarding the storyline and the palpable connection between the hero and heroine towards the end of the big showdown. Other than that, Raw Redemption is a solid good read that ties up and concludes the series. So if you are looking for a story that intertwines steam, suspense, romance, heat, passion, and second chances then look no further than Raw Redemption and the entire Crossing the Lines series. If that doesn’t persuade you in reading then you are truly missing out on a great series by Tessa Bailey.

Nostalgia from: A City Set Upon a Hill
In this sentimental memoir, Garfield Whyte takes readers down a wistful, thoughtful, and saccharine journey down memory lane in his book Nostalgia from: A City Set Upon A Hill. Set in the backdrops of Munro College, an all-boys boarding school in Jamaica, Whyte paints a literary tale of flashbacks of his fondest memory of his schooling and the significance and impact that this school bestowed upon. From the sights and sounds of the school, to the classrooms, the teachers and students, and the bricks that laid the foundation of this institution, Whyte explains why Munro, in all its simplicity during that time, was the city set upon a hill.
“There were other boarding schools in Jamaica, but none like this one. The others were duplications, as, in my view, this one was the real, authentic all boys’ high school.”
In this compound, Whyte retells of how their lives revolved around this institution. The outside world practically didn’t exist to them, because everything that they could want and needed was provided for. It was truly a city built upon a hill. It was a school that young boys aim to attend and parents hoped their child would be lucky enough to attend. You were considered lucky and fortunate to get accepted. As we read further into his memoir, we learn of his appreciation of the simple things like eating and water. The school taught him and other students to be thankful for the basic needs and in such it taught him discipline that could be used in his future life.
“Munro College was recognized as the only high school, and there was to be a one-way street that led up to that winding hillside to the city set upon a hill. After the Common Entrance Examination, my seven-year pilgrimage began.”
Each opening chapter in this memoir begins with a quote from a famous person whose quote leads into each topic Whyte introduces.
This memoir is his account of his life and recollection of his memories of the students and the people that he encountered while he was a student of Munro. Through this detailed account, Whyte allows us to FEEL Munro College and why, once you are a Munronian, you are a Munronian for life. While this memoir is of his personal account, I enjoyed this personal and sentimental journey of Garfield Whyte. So if you are ready to immerse and feel of what is like to be a Munronian, then this deep, wistful recollection of memories will allow you to taste, see, and feel Munro, the city on the hill.
Set in the backdrops of a small California countryside, Claire McEwen creates a light and second chance romance that can’t be tamed. In this beautiful and heart tugging tale of two former lovers reuniting, Ms. McEwen saddles up her readers as we are thrown in a whirlwind romance that weaves forgiveness, new beginnings, love, and the incorporation of horses, hence the title: Wild Horses.
Nora Hoffman and her younger brother, Wade had to live with the stigma of being a Hoffman. Her family is synonymous with TROUBLE. Her father and her other brothers had to flee to Mexico after swindling and robbing folks of their hard earned cash and then Nora’s mother ran off to marry someone else. So Nora, didn’t have the best life growing up as she made sacrifices for her and Wade so they wouldn’t be associated with their family troubles. Nora worked hard to provide everything for her and her brother. But little does Nora know that sometimes you can’t escape the past–especially if comes stampeding your way.
Todd Williams is a man on a mission: to rescue and conserve the wild horses and set them free. This wild stallion of a man is not someone who can be easily tamed–that is, until he reunites with his ex-girlfriend, Nora Hoffman. When Nora catches Todd setting horses free, she is conflicted about what to do since her job lies in the balance. As Nora continues to spend time with Todd, she begins to see his point of view on why these horses need to be set free in the wild, but at the same time tries to reason with him about his methods. Like the wild horses that needs to be set free, Claire McEwen sets forth a romance that will stampede right into your hearts as it grips you with its raw, emotional undertones of letting love in. I don’t read many Western Romances but I found Wild Horses to be quite entertaining as Claire McEwen saddled up her readers for one charming and wholesome love story.
To the Stars: A Thatch Novel
Molly McAdams has always been one of those authors whom I can always count on for angst. She has this way of writing an angst story line with so much depth, raw honesty and emotions that you either want to scream at her for putting you in such in an emotional roller coaster but at the same time applaud her for her brilliant way of piecing back together the broken pieces of your heart. And in her latest novel, To The Stars, Molly McAdams truly puts her readers on an emotionally raw, heartbreaking and profound ride. Tears will be shed. Hearts will be broken. And yet again, only in true Molly McAdams form she will slowly mend those broken pieces and make our hearts yearn for more.
“Have you ever looked at someone…just one look, and you knew that was it? There would never be anyone else who would compare? That was Harlow for me. Every time.”
To The Stars was truly an emotional journey of heartache, wrong choices, and fated love. Like life, love is also a journey filled with many ups and down. It is a journey that sometimes take different paths and in such choices are made. And for Harlow Evans, her journey of love is a tumultuous journey filled with pain, sadness and heartache as she failed to see the guy who has been waiting to love her. As Harlow goes through her personal journey of rediscovering and finding her happiness, she is reunited with Alexander McCade.
Alexander knew one certain thing. Harlow Evans was the girl. The one and only girl that was meant for him. The love he had for Harlow is so indescribable because this kind of love is what every girl searches for. It is the kind of love that made you a believer that soul mates do exist. And to see that Alexander was patient and was waiting in the wings, made my heart burst with so much LOVE for him. So if you are looking for a story that was brimming with a wide arrange of raw emotions, passion, and love then I highly recommend you to read this book. Just prepare to fall in love with a story that make you believe in a love so powerful that it was worth waiting for.
