To Watch You Bleed

For a family consisting of a fiction writer, two teenagers, and an architect husband on the cusp of leaving his wife for a receptionist, everything will change on Halloween night.

Dalton Summers had been spending time with his receptionist, and his son had been away at a party while his wife, Lenore, and his daughter, Mara, were held hostage by the masked trio that readers will come to know as Bullet, Skull-face, and Freddie. The masked trio, though they are masked, are monsters. Dalton, due home after the receptionist bails on him, has no idea what he’s about to face.

Revenge is dished out as cold as it is meant to be – unbiased and methodical. The atmosphere of panic that Greene creates is excellent. You can experience what the characters are experiencing in the Summers home at the hands of the captors. Aside from the occasional stabbing or slicing, I recall one scene that I still cannot get out of my head. I’ll only say that it has something to do with water. To Watch You Bleed by Jordan Greene is a thriller with no mercy for the good.
