The Unmaking of June Farrow: A Novel
The Farrow women of Jasper, North Carolina are cursed. June Farrow has been waiting for the signs to appear because she is determined that the curse ends with her. A voice calling her name, wind chimes that aren’t there, and a red door that appears out of nowhere. A year after the symptoms begin and her grandmother passes, she decides to go through the door. What she discovers will change not only her future but also her past. This is the beginning of The Unmaking of June Farrow.
What a beautifully written story about the choices we make and what we’re willing to do for those we love as well as love itself. This is a story about sacrifice and love, and about how our choices can have long-lasting effects. If you love The Time Traveler’s Wife, you will enjoy this story. The whole timeline thing and threads can get confusing, but still an enjoyable read. The addition of a murder mystery was a bonus. It wasn’t the main point and didn’t overpower the rest of the story, which was really about June and her choices. I highly recommend it to those who would like their stories to have more depth.
