The Six Secrets of Raising Capital: An Insider’s Guide for Entrepreneurs
This book is a brief overview of the process of raising investment funds for entrepreneurs as they launch companies. As the title suggests, the author has divided the text into six key points about the fundraising process; often, these points are counterintuitive, but necessary and accurate. The book is certainly a how-to guide, and almost a workbook; it is definitely intended for current (or very-near-future) entrepreneurs in the fundraising process.
Bill Fisher’s pedigree in the fields of entrepreneurship and venture capital are a necessary portion of the book’s value; the author knows what he is writing about, and it shows. That said, the “secrets” from the book’s title are not unique to this text; indeed, all of the tips and ideas can probably be found elsewhere, in other startup books or on the internet. The value of the author’s work, in this case, is his clarity and brevity: Bill Fisher clearly expresses, in one relatively short book, what dozens of other authors in print and online fail to express in hundreds of pages. As a former entrepreneur myself, I found that focus very refreshing.
Entrepreneurs will find this book an invaluable resource as they raise investment funds.
