The Shadow Key: A Novel
After being dismissed from his position at a London hospital for a surgery gone wrong, Dr. Henry Talbot has no choice but to accept the job offer from Lord Julian at his manor in Wales. Henry is immediately met with disdain from the villagers and reticence from the other occupants of the manor, including Lord Julian’s niece, Linette. Henry discovers that his predecessor died under mysterious circumstances and other strange things are happening around Plas Helyg. Things that center around an Order and something called The Shadow Key. Henry will have to solve these mysteries if he is to make a home in this isolated village.
If you love historical fiction, especially ones that center around mysterious cults and Welsh folklore, then this is the book for you. Well written and full of foreshadowing, you can’t help but be drawn into this beautiful land. The author writes about Wales in a way that makes it seem like the land itself is one of the characters, as much as Henry and Linette. It is dark and Gothic, full of shadowy figures and suspicious characters. A wonderful addition to your historical fiction collection.
