The Replaced
In The Replaced, the exciting follow-up to The Taking, Kyra has found a place among a camp of the Returned—those who’ve been taken, altered, and given back. She still feels like she’s on the outside because she is inexplicably more powerful than anyone else. She is determined to find out what happened to her boyfriend, Tyler, and her father, but chasing the hints may just land her and her new friends in a trap. They are on the run from a ruthless group of government agents and find their only option for help is a dangerous camp of renegade Returned.
While this second installment was entertaining and exciting, I found it lacked a lot of what I loved about book one, and that the angst and immaturity that I was able to accept from the main character as a girl thrown suddenly into a difficult situation in book one was just too much this time around and in these new, more intense situations. Still, it’s an intense ride, lots of danger, twists, and sweet moments. Also, some fun new characters have been added and I look forward to seeing where the next book will lead.
