The President Is Missing: A Novel
James Patterson is known for this action-adventure/thriller novels that he seems to produce by the bucketful. They make for easy summer reading on the beach, and this one is no exception; the only difference is he has teamed up with former President Bill Clinton as a co-author. The president is one of the few people who knows a secret plan to cyberattack the country and that it will happen in a few days. He strikes off alone to meet someone who can help stop it, but he is betrayed and the person he is going to meet is killed. Now it is a race against time to not only stop the threat but also find out who betrayed the country. This is a quick read, and something that does not require a lot of attention to follow the plot. As always, the action scenes are fairly exciting, but the subplots of the president’s wife who died from cancer are a bit distracting and at times derail everything. And you might ask what President Clinton contributes, which at times can be hard to tell; but at other times you can really tell what he contributed.
