The Overnight Guest: A Novel
Josie knows her life will never be the same. As she walks into her home, she finds her mother and father both brutally murdered. But where is her older brother Ethan? Josie and Becky run, holding hands as a gunman threatens their lives. But somewhere along the way, the two girls lose each other and Becky disappears forever.
The Overnight Guest has three storylines that all mesh together to create an unbelievable story. One storyline is set in the past and brings the reader back to when Josie’s parents are murdered and the police investigation. The story is also told from the present day when a writer named Wylie isolates herself in a farmhouse to write her new book and finds herself with unexpected guests. The third storyline tells us of a mother and daughter abused and locked up by an evil man.
The Overnight Guest will have its readers shocked as the true nature of each character unfolds. I really liked the way the chapters alternated between timelines although I felt it was confusing at the beginning. This story is perfect for fans of thriller and suspense novels with a twist at the end.
