The Nikopol Trilogy
A reprint that was originally published in the 1990s–though at times it does not feel that way–it brings us to a brutalized future where life is cheap. In 2025, Paris is now run by Fascists, Egyptian gods have returned in a ship that hovers over Paris and demands fuel, and an astronaut that was exiled into space for 30 years returns to Earth. In this strange new world Nikopol must navigate a landscape he does not recognize, but one that is always trying to kill him. He becomes involved with Horus, who is trying to overthrow his fellow gods. Along the way Nikopol will become involved in dangerous political games, and a woman with secrets of her own as they struggle to survive in an ever changing world.
The illustrations are luscious and gorgeous, like looking at many different paintings. Though the story gets a little lax at the end, it holds up well after not being in print for a long time. This will excite fans of European comics that are trying to find these classic 1990s stories.
