The Murder Rule: A Novel

Hannah has just joined the Innocence Project, a group of lawyers and law students dedicated to freeing those who’ve been wrongly convicted. This team is working around the clock on their latest case, where a man named Michael Dandridge was convicted of raping and murdering a young mother, which was then overturned, but the DA is retrying the case. What the team doesn’t know is that Hannah is convinced he’s guilty and she’s going to do everything in her power to keep him in prison. The Murder Rule is all she can think about and Hannah won’t stop until he pays.

My highest praise for this book would be that it is filled to the brim with complicated characters. I agree with the tagline that “no one is innocent in this story.” I loved watching the characters evolve and change their viewpoints as they discovered more information and found out the truth about each other. The plot was intriguing and I enjoyed seeing how the Innocence Project works. There’s a prevailing theme here that the justice system is great, but it’s just as flawed and complicated as the people who are a part of it. You should check it out.
