The Missing Hours: A Novel

The Missing Hours started off as a really suspenseful story in which the characters were each presented in a way that made the reader feel truly invested in the story. Eden is in hospital having a baby, but her boyfriend is not the father. Claudia is an Instagram influencer who misses the birth of her sister Eden’s baby because she wakes up bruised and realizes she was raped. She’s a party girl who has no regard for anyone but herself. Trevor is Claudia’s neighbor; he has a crush on her and helps nurse her back to health. From there, we find out who raped Claudia and the whole plot becomes about revenge.

The way the lives of the characters intertwine in this book is really very messy. The two girls come from a very wealthy family and the mother is quite a piece of work. There are a lot of loose ends left in the story and, as a whole, the book actually falls short of being interesting once we find out who violated Claudia. This book had potential, but it ended up being a complete flop.
