The Matzah Ball: A Novel
Rachel is the daughter of a very well-known and influential Jewish Rabbi. Which is why no one can know what she does for a living: writing Christmas romance novels. It doesn’t mean she’s any less serious about her Jewish faith. In fact, her mother invites her to stay for Shabbat and mentions that Rachel’s first love, Jacob will be there.
Rachel and Jacob had a difficult past. They fell in love when they were twelve years old, but Rachel believes their first kiss was nothing more than a prank to him. She’s not excited to see him again, but is excited to score a ticket to the high-end Hanukkah event he’s planning, The Matzah Ball Max.
This book is absolutely adorable. Rachel is a complex and realistic individual who is trying her best to keep her parents from the shame of her secret profession. She’s also concealing from the world that she suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, an illness that is far more devastating than its name implies. She’s trying to keep from herself that she’s carried a flame for Jacob all these years.
This book is a charming holiday read that will leave readers hoping these two can work out what happened in the past and move forward into a bright future.
