The Long Journey: Tales of a World Yet to Come
The Long Journey: A Tale of Worlds Yet To Come is such a riveting storybook about what this world’s future may look like. Technology is dominating society, and this doesn’t always lead to the right path. Kadhija knows this. She lives in a world where technology became so out of hand, it had to be forbidden. Her city is still recovering from a Great War. The war had three phases: chemical, nuclear, and then genetic. In the third phase, animals were genetically modified and used as weapons. Khadija’s city is still filled with the altered animals, one of them being her best friend. After the war, using technology of any kind was against the law. As a seeker, it’s Kadhija’s job to find those who break these laws. She and her wolf partner have to go on a lingering voyage to find and capture the lawbreaker. Although the journey through deserts and mountains seems endless, Khadija and the prisoner occupy the time by telling each other fascinating tales of how the world came to be the way it is.
The stories within stories are completely fictional and seem so far away, but each one has a unique message that links to this world and it’s future. They’re alarming, but at the same time, might be what we’re headed for. The tales shed light on how society is divided, what it means to be civilized, and what too much technology does. Readers will be enlightened by the meaning of the stories and look at the world in a different way. The book seems like just a collection of fantasy stories, but is packed with creativity and wisdom. The author has done an amazing job with weaving so many different elements into the pages. Readers will definitely enjoy the book and walk away with lots to reflect on.
