The Little Bear
Ollie is excited and a little bit nervous. Tomorrow is the first day of school. She has her bear backpack filled with what she needs at school, and she’s been practicing lessons. She gets into bed and is drifting off to sleep when she hears the owl hooting loudly. She grabs her backpack and heads out the door to see what is going on. Several other animals are following the call of the owl. Ollie finds a tiny school in a clearing in the woods. The animals have gone inside, but a little bear is waiting, looking very nervous indeed. Ollie offers to go in the school with the bear.
Nicola Killen has written and illustrated a sweet book that will help nervous youngsters be prepared for their own first day of school. They will realize it is a fun and exciting time as Ollie goes through Little Bear’s first day with him. The writing is lovely and the story is quiet and will help youngsters settle down for bedtime and get over their own nerves. The illustrations in soft, muted grays, blues, and sparkling gold are the perfect complement to the story. Don’t miss this one.
