The Last Goodbye: A Novel
The Last Goodbye is a story about love, loss, and ultimately, hope. Hope for a better tomorrow after tragedy has struck. How do you move on from grief? Does it ever get better? Anna has been living in a very small bubble ever since her husband, the love of her life, passed away in a tragic accident. She can’t move on; she doesn’t want to. On New Year’s Eve, she decides to call his phone and is surprised when someone answers it. Thereafter starts a friendship of sorts that Anna never knew she needed.
I thought the story was thoughtful and well written. I felt everything Anna was going through. I sympathized with her inability to move on, but sometimes life has other plans for us; ones we could have never predicted. In the end, life is messy but it’s also beautiful, if we would just open our eyes and see it. That message to me was everything. The story touched me in such a way that I saw its deeper meaning, which makes me love the book and its characters that much more.
