The Iron Ghost
The Black Feather Three return to face a mage risen from the dead intent on single-handedly controlling all magic at any cost.
The Iron Ghost finds Wyrdin of Crosshaven, Ser Sebastian, and Lord Firth journeying to Skaldshallow on a seemingly straightforward job: retrieve an artifact a rival city scampered off with. As with any realm filled with magic and wonder, nothing is as simple as it looks. Before long, our intrepid trio is swept up in an epic battle with an ancient mage, towering mechanical beasts, and angry gods.
Jen Williams is a force to be reckoned with. This modern fantasy is epic in scale but never loses the focus on her beloved characters. The dynamics between the Black Feather Three, their backstories and motivations, and the various beings around them are all drawn in vivid detail. Williams never lets up on the tension, either. Even with a long-dead mage on the loose, she amps everything up by bringing in demons, zombies, colossal sea creatures, and a race of rock-like people. Pick it up for the fantasy but stay for the frankly incredible writing. Williams stands up on her own against some of the powerhouses like Sanderson and Jordan.
