The Great Antonio: TOON Level 2

The Great Antonio is a biography about Antonio Barichievich, a famous strong-man who was known as The Great Antonio. He came from a country called Croatia. We don’t know much about his childhood, except that he was a VERY big baby.

There were many stories about Antonio, like that he was raised by bears or was an alien because he was just too big to be a human! At the age of twenty, Antonio went by boat to Canada. By then, he was 6’3” and 460 pounds! That is as heavy as a horse! Because he was so big, he was a very hungry man. He could eat twenty-five whole chickens in one sitting!

Antonio most loved being a wrestler. He fought against champions around the world, sometimes fighting ten wrestlers at a time, against two trucks, or even a bear! (Antonio won!)

I enjoyed learning about Antonio’s life. I would have liked to meet Antonio and swing off one of his braids like other kids! His life was very impressive. Also, I don’t think he was an alien, just a big human. I also loved the pictures. My favorite picture is the one with the horse that says, “Hey, that’s not so heavy!”
