The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye: A Lisbeth Salander novel, continuing Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Series
The fifth installment of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series, The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye continues where the fourth novel ended. Lisbeth Salander is now serving her punishment behind bars from hiding a young boy in order to save his life. In trying to remain apart from the prison’s population, Lisbeth instead finds herself protecting another inmate who cannot defend herself. As a result, she becomes the target of a ruthless family who will stop at nothing to gain back their honor. At the same time, Mikael Blomkvist must puzzle together the clues to Lisbeth’s past in order to bring her abusers to justice. It’s another race to see if Blomkvist can figure out who the players are before Lisbeth exacts her own vengeance or suffers harm from ruthless killers.
A stronger story with better writing than The Girl in the Spider’s Web, Lagercrantz’s latest novel brings back some of the feel and suspense of Larsson’s original trilogy. Readers get to find out more about Lisbeth’s history. Mikael is his usual persistent, single-minded self, determined to save Lisbeth with his eye on writing the latest news story. A recommended read just in time for the holidays for those who like thrillers and suspense.
