The Girl Who Survived: A Riveting Novel of Suspense with a Shocking Twist
Another superb mystery by Lisa Jackson, The Girl Who Survived takes readers onto the lives of the McIntyre family. Twenty Christmases ago, Kara McIntyre’s mother, father, and two half brothers are brutally murdered. One half brother is in prison for the crime; her older sister Marlie seemed to vanish into thin air. Kara was only seven years old back then. Present day, and Jonas, the brother in prison, is let out on a police technicality and his attorney, Merritt, whom he is supposed to meet, ends up dead.
Like all of Jackson’s other books I have read, I could not put this one down. The reader follows Kara as she tries to piece together out what happened really that night. It also follows detectives Thomas and Johnson who are working on Merritt’s murder. The characters in this book are phenomenal. The story is fast-paced and wastes no time getting into the action scenes. There is a part in the story where a dying character says something the police are stumped by, and like all mysteries I read, I tried to figure it out. And I did! This is a must read for fans of Chevy Stevens and Riley Sager.
