The Fields: A Novel

The Fields starts out with a young woman running through a field and bleeding to death. This part of the book immediately grabbed my attention and I was excited to get down to the bottom of who this woman was and what she was running from. Sergeant Riley Fisher and new deputy Logan Woods partner in leading the investigation. The Iowa town they are in is known for growing corn. The woman who was found dead is the wife of a man named James who works for Zephyr Farms, one of the major corn suppliers. As Riley and Logan put the pieces together and try to connect James with his own wife’s murder, what they find is not only gruesome but all too realistic.

I really liked the plot and the setting of this book, however, towards the middle of the book the story seemed to slow down. It does pick up and the ending has a lot of action and a great twist. The main characters are all interesting and likable. This book is perfect for fans of Chevy Stevens and Ruth Ware.
