Suzanne McBride is excited to have her three daughters home for Christmas. Her youngest, Posy, has stayed in Scotland but the other two, Beth and Hannah, have moved to New York. Beth is happily married with two young daughters, and Hannah is a workaholic who likes to keep to herself. Although Christmastime brings tension to the McBride family every year, Suzanne loves having her girls around her and her husband. This year, Hannah and Beth unexpectedly come home early to work through their own demons. Will this Christmas be even more tense than the last?

Marketed as romance, this book is more about the relationships between the McBride sisters and their parents, although there are romantic themes. The book is told in alternating chapters by each sister and their mother, Suzanne. Characters are distinct and realistic, and none of the storylines lag behind the others. Set in the snowy highlands of Scotland, this is a mostly a cozy family drama that is just right to read for the Christmas season. This book is set apart from others like it with the interesting addition of a family passion for mountain climbing. This was a warm, enjoyable read.
