The Christmas Light
This year, Grandon Community Church’s annual Christmas Nativity is shaping up to be a little unconventional. Jennifer and her daughter Avery are still struggling with the death of Avery’s father three years ago. Avery gets recruited for the choir, while Jennifer finds herself helping with making costumes. She also helps with building sets, where she meets Ryan, a single dad thinking about taking a job nearby. Meanwhile, teenaged Kaylee is pregnant and struggling with the decisions that got her there. And Stephen and Lily are desperate to start a family, but need outside help to do so. The Nativity will bring holiday cheer to all of their lives!
If you are looking for a lighthearted, uplifting little novel this holiday season, why not give The Christmas Light by Donna VanLiere a try? VanLiere is well-known for a handful of other holiday novels, and this new one is sure to be just as loveable as the others. The plot is not particularly deep, but the characters are surprisingly well developed for there being so many (and for such a short book!) and the ending, while completely expected, will definitely bring some cheer into readers’ own lives.
