Janie loves to draw, especially ideas for what kind of caravan she will live in when she grows up. Her grandfather often makes models of her drawings. Mrs. Tolen, a neighbor in the caravan park, mentions how much work her caravan needs. At school the next day, Janie’s teacher announces they are going to visit a recycling plant. That afternoon, Mrs. Tolen falls and breaks her hip. She tells Janie that social services will have to find her a new place to live because her caravan needs too much work. While visiting the recycling plant, Janie has an idea about how to fix up Mrs. Tolen’s caravan, and she gets to work on that.

Richard O’Neill has written a fun story that will encourage youngsters to learn about recycling, and also encourage them to work hard to help those around them. Cindy Kong has created bright, colorful illustrations with plenty of fun details to help keep kids engaged. There is a tiny glossary hidden away at the bottom of the page facing the title page. Don’t miss it. You will need it. There are also two pages of back-matter about recycling.
