The Art of Healing: Uncovering Your Inner Wisdom and Potential for Self-Healing
The Art of Healing: Uncovering Your Inner Wisdom and Potential for Self-Healing by Bernie S. Siegel, M.D., is a fantastic companion to his Love, Medicine and Miracles. Siegel helps to make the invisible visible by helping to guide us to look at our unconsciousness. When we least expect it, Siegel writes, our mind and body are communicating with us. Communication is key to our lives. We just need to learn how to listen to those communications. Siegel believes that “somatic aspects of health and disease are inseparable from the natural integration of mind, body, and spirit.”
Providing evidence in the form of seventy illustrations, Siegel makes a compelling case for our individual healing potential. Siegel also discusses the improvement of patients involved in therapies involving “mediation, creative visualization, spontaneous drawings, dreams, humor, and the exploration of feelings.” Besides giving case studies, under the heading “Doctor’s Prescription” you’ll find exercises for you to experience tuning in to those communications he suggests we listen for. An example of one exercise is to take a dog for a walk or hold an animal and notice how you feel before, during, and after. Siegel will soon have you better understanding your inner world.
