Terciel & Elinor (Old Kingdom)
Twenty-five years ago, the world was introduced to the Old Kingdom as we traveled over the wall with Sabriel in Garth Nix’s first book in the series. It was both fascinating and thrilling, as we went with Sabriel on her adventures, and while we heard of her parents, we know very little about them. That all changes with Nix’s new book, Terciel & Elinor.
Terciel, under the tutelage of his great-aunt, Tizanael, the Abhorsen, is learning of necromancy, but not the raising of the dead but laying them to rest, with the use of the bells. It is a dark and hard world in the Old Kingdom full of magic and charter. He is the Abhorsen-in-waiting, learning how to protect and help those in need. Elinor lives in Ancelstierre across the wall in what she considers a pretty boring and secluded life where her only friends are a governess and an old groom. But sometimes magic crosses the wall and everything changes in a single day of fire and death as Terciel is pulled into the Old Kingdom and meets Terciel, beginning a very special relationship.
Filled with magic and adventure, Terciel & Elinor is another great installment in the Old Kingdom series.
