This large trade paperback Store This, Not That! is absolutely filled with information. It is amazing how authors C. Godfrey and D. Kent could come up with that much material and the amount of research they must have put in. The central focus is food and beverage storage, particularly long term. The authors go into fine details on every type of foods, profusely illustrating with hundreds of photographs. This, however, is the downfall of this volume—way too much information, and the meat portion the average reader wants is simply lost among the fluff. Though useful, few people would take the time to plow through and digest the many aspects, many sidebars, tables and statistics, tips and comparisons.
What most readers are looking for is a brief but useful chapter summary. As is, this storage encyclopedia is simply overwhelming. Yet it contains a wealth of good information and it may serve as a reference on long-term food storage. There is everything here including such as grocery sales tips, freeze-dried vs. dehydrated foods, canning dried beans. But where to purchase the listed survival foods is not given. We find even dinner plans with recipes for four weeks, and breakfast menu planning.
