Star Wars: Episode IX‘s title and first trailer have just gone viral, but two decades ago, it was Episode I: The Phantom Menace that had all eyes and ears fixated on the Star Wars franchise once more. And as always, Star Wars Insider was there with the scoop, exploring the special effects, storyline developments, and all the rumors swirling about the new prequel trilogy.

Star Wars: The Saga Begins collects numerous articles from the prequel era and wraps them up in one slickly-produced package, and is jam-packed with interviews, behind the scenes insights, and more. From how the monsters in the Episode II arena sequence were created, and which ones would win in a fight, to interviews with the young actors exploring how their worlds had changed since being cast, there’s plenty here to enjoy, whether you’re looking for in-universe insight or stories from the filmmaking process.

There are plenty of dynamite articles here; discussions with the tech crews from Episode III come to mind, as well as a rundown of which Episode I Easter Eggs are just rumors and which ones the fans missed. But the absolute highlight is a thoughtful and enthralling interview with Samuel L. Jackson, whose acting insights are only eclipsed by his SW fandom and enthusiasm.

At a time when the fan base seems more fractured than ever, it’s a welcome change of pace to return to a time when excitement about the prequels was at a fever pitch.
