Spark
Mina is a quiet soul in her loud family. Her parents and older brother are guardians to storm beasts. Now it is her turn. Will she hatch a wind beast, or a sun beast, or a rain beast? She has kept watch over her egg, talked to it and shared stories, and knows that whatever hatches will be perfect for her. However, when her beast hatches, the only one who thinks Pixit, a lightning beast, is perfect is her. Her family is sure there’s a problem, but when the letter comes back from the prime minister accompanied by two tickets for the school for lightning guardians, Mina knows she had bonded to the perfect beast for her…until she reaches school and realizes that lightning guardians are loud. And control lightning. And not like her at all.
This cute little story about the strength contained within a quiet introvert details school life and the world of Alorria, where storm beasts control the weather. The tone is more serious, so the humor woven within is appreciated when it surfaces. A stand-alone, Spark is a social commentary about whether people should do things just because they can, especially when given the repercussions to others.
