Smiley’s Dream Book: From the creator of BONE
Fans of Jeff Smith’s Bone – whether you’re a lover of the full-color or the original hardcore black and white ones – do to be warned that this is not another book in the expanding Bone family series, but in a way it is at the same time, capturing the attention of the reader with a lot of the facets that grabbed Bone fans from the beginning.
Smiley Bone is on a fun jaunt, out-and-about on a beautiful sunny day, taking in the details of the woods and marveling at the wonderful world he lives in. He begins counting the birds and singing along with them, noticing that there are many, and before he knows it, he’s flying high up in the sky with them, and then a certain bird wants to break up this fun party.
While this is a children’s picture book, Jeff Smith has imbued it with the skill that fans have come to expect from his graphic novels. The book is bursting with life and color and detail, a delight for any reader, but there is also a story, a crisis, and a resolution, all done while helping to teach the reader to count.
