Skywatcher
Tamen dreams of being like his favorite superhero, Skywatcher. If only he, too, could travel the galaxy at night, guided by the starlight. He lives in a city where his view is obstructed by the bright lights. One day, his mom surprises him with a trip to the country where they roast marshmallows and peer up at the illuminated sky in search of the North Star. They chat about the constellations and fall asleep reading. When a noise wakes Tamen, he discovers something brilliant in the distance – The Milky Way. He feels a part of the universe and all its magnificence and will remember this day for eternity.
Jamie Hogan blends the tale of a young boy’s zeal for astronomy with his wish to emulate something bigger. His mother’s love is central as well. The story is gorgeously illustrated. The contrast in hues brings a vibrant, eye-catching allure. Children will be struck by their uniqueness and real-life quality.
Youths ages five to nine with a passion for the outdoors, and especially for the night sky, will treasure this book. It’s perfect for a quick afternoon or bedtime read. It’s prime material as well for a special gift at Christmastime or any other time of year.
