Skinnytaste One and Done: 140 No-Fuss Dinners for Your Instant Pot®, Slow Cooker, Air Fryer, Sheet P
Gina Homolka’s latest Skinnytaste cookbook, her third, is a collection of 140 recipes that can be created in one kitchen standby (more or less): skillet, sheet pan, slow cooker, air fryer, instapot, or dutch oven. The book is full of the usual beautiful photographs and includes comprehensive nutrition information for each recipe, and the dust jacket-less hardcover binding makes it particularly kitchen-friendly.
But what really stands out in this collection is the quality and inventiveness of the recipes–not to mention their accessibility. These are not gourmet endeavors that require elaborate preparation; most are family-friendly and can be executed within a reasonable amount of time. Making cooking simple is easy–but many cookbooks that advertise speed can’t deliver on the quality. This cookbook delivers on both. The sheet pan dishes are particularly good and can be adapted with different veggies–family favorites or whatever’s in the fridge. Homolka also offers alternative cooking methods for cooks without the suggested appliance. Most readers will find many recipes here that will enter the regular mealtime rotation.
After editing at City Book Review for a few years, I took up the duties of editorial assistant, which include assigning books for review, posting reviews to our various sites, and nagging reviewers for things. In my non-nagging time, I’m a gamer, artist, writer, and notorious black thumb/bane of plants. My answer to every book-related question: read Octavia Butler.
