Silence
Staci has been tossed out with the proverbial trash when her father remarries. Brenda, her new stepmother, was wonderful and loving until the license was signed. Suddenly, Staci is shipped off to Silence – a dingy and depressing town in New England – to live with her mother, a drunk and a harlot, who can’t keep house much less a teenager. Thankfully, Staci is independent and not above blackmailing her dad for money. She meets some gamer geeks at the local bookstore and a dark and mysterious biker, who share stories about the rich Blackthorne family. When Sean Blackthorne invites Staci up to visit, she thinks she has hit the jackpot. She quickly finds out that the Blackthorne money does a really good job of hiding who, or what, they really are, and it will take everything she and her friends have to make things right in Silence. This is the ninth book in the Serrated Edge series, though this title is a stand-alone and can be read in any order. However, the shallow characterization and whip-lash decision making may remind some readers of a cheap Harlequin romance and not a book of Lackey’s caliber. A beach read, at best.
