Short Order Crooks
Rock Granger is relatable – he’s a middle-aged man who has had his experiences in life and still isn’t sure how to make people happy with him. The one thing he’s for sure of is his love for food and cooking – his style of art. Unfortunately, given his background and personality, he needed some help getting started in the food industry, and he asked the wrong people for it. With a massive debt weighing over him to pay off his food truck, Rock must complete an assignment or risk losing his “money-making” tools. Not fully understanding, his angel known as Harper shows up to help in more ways than one.
Short Order Crooks is colorful, not only in illustrations. Rock does well to share his background and inner thoughts through dialogue bubbles, and most of it should stay hidden in his mind. Rock is emotionally insecure, outwardly sure of his abilities, yet doesn’t jump the gun on his emotions. Rock could potentially be an adequate role model given his vulnerability and perseverance amongst a string of adversities.
