Quarry’s Deal
Quarry’s Deal, the fourth Quarry outing, finds him meeting his match. Quarry continues his plan of targeting hitmen on the infamous Broker’s List by tailing one to Iowa. Only hiccup is . . . this hitman’s a one-of-a-kind beauty with skills to match. In typical pulp fashion, Quarry beds her as he attempts to suss out her intended target. Before long, he’s caught up in a casino heist and attacked by amateur thugs.
Collins really hits his stride with Quarry’s Deal. The first three novels set up Quarry’s backstory and motive splendidly. This allows Collins the freedom to delve deep into the pulpy goodness of two equally matched hitmen hunting their prey in a deliciously seedy underworld filled with backroom gamblers and busty assassins. Interestingly, the identity of the female assassin’s partner is a hell of a surprise. Despite a weak ending, this is a fantastic entry in a unique pulp series with an equally unique main character. As with the previous Quarry books, the pages drip with sex, guns, and witty banter. Hopefully, the stunning femme fatale assassin will return in future books.
